The Legal Perspective In Dealing With Divorce

By Shannon Winters

A divorce can impact the core aspects of daily living. Any individual who's facing divorce is believed to be withdrawn, annoyed, angry and bitter. Unlike the majority, people braving divorce matters can be pretty in a state of shock. They may undergo several stages of emotional breakdown. When you are going through a divorce, everything feels to be a struggle. The most distressing part of it all is that your kids can be depressingly affected as well.

Singapore, as an Asian country makes the whole divorce process more difficult. As a matter of fact, being a divorcee in the Asian culture isn't much accepted. Therefore, before you consult law firms in Singapore, you have to weigh the pros and cons carefully. However, if divorce is already inevitable, then seek the help of singapore lawyers, as they can surely help you with the process.

Prior to the beginning of the divorce process, the courts usually look for proof that you exhausted all measures to save the marriage and reconcile. Then, you may cite the foundation for filing divorce such as three years of separation with consent, four years of separation without consent, adultery, two years of desertion, spousal abuse, illegal drug use, alcoholism and gambling. Then, you need to submit a writ of divorce that contains the statement of claim which cites the grounds for filing the divorce.

After the courts receive the documents, a notice of action shall be sent to the other party. The procedure will only push through if the court receives no objection from the other party. The court will have scheduled a status conference within a 6 week period subsequent to the respondent's non-objection. If the respondent, on the contrary, disputes the ground for divorce, the court shall order the couple to go through counselling until they come up with a decision to push through with the divorce or not.

After all the procedures mentioned above have been completed, the last step is the three months cool-off period which is the final effort to reconcile the couple. In case this fails and a judge deems the marriage is already beyond repair with absolute certainty, a certificate of divorce is going to be awarded. Then, three months after both parties are free to wed again.
